All Headline News: South Carolina Republican Apologizes For Gorilla Remark About First Lady | AHN

Why am I not surprised? I am an Independent who's voted for Democrats and Republicans over the years. I am also an African American. The GOP has completely lost its credibility. They've become little more than an irrelevant, inept, unprofessional, trash talking, regional group of reactionaries. They are represented by racists and sexists like Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity. These are people who resent educated people whom they refer to disdainfully as "elites".

The GOP is peopled by polarizing, intolerant, self-righteous bigots who insist on imposing their vies and so-called "values" on everyone else. They profess to be pro-lifers but they are only pro-life until birth. They don't have a problem with launching preemptive wars that result in the deaths of hundreds of thousands of people who have never even been to America let alone planned to harm us.

They have ruined our reputations abroad and spent billions on conducting unjust wars while presiding over the worst economic recession since WW11.

So I'm not surprised that the same a member of the same Party that chose"Barack the Magic Negro" to deride our nation's first African American President and accused our nation's first Hispanic Supreme Court nominee of being a reverse racist also suggested that an escaped gorilla was an ancestor of our nation's first African American first lady.

The Republican folks just don't get it, do they? They continue to show their "white supremacism"; they are no different than James, the shooter at the Halocaust Museum! They are just as bigotted and ugly! Michelle Obama has made NO such comment at this guy has accused her of making. He stated she had recently said, "EVERYONE" was a decendant of apes....I ask, then, why didn't he say, "I believe that is one of MY ancestors, I am sure he is harmless."?? The man is dispicable and I am being generous here. What are these bigots doing as representatives of the American people?? We need to run them out of office and positions of responsibility!

People need to call for these morons' resignations. Totally racists comments that DePass cannot conveniently mitigate via a reference clearly not having any bearing on it.

Former state Senate candidate Rusty DePass apologized and told WIS-TV: "I am as sorry as I can be if I offended anyone. The comment was clearly in jest." But he added he was only referring to statements by the First Lady that humans descended from apes, saying, "The comment was hers. Not mine."

This is a stereotypical Republican non-apology. I've got a comment for Rusty and I'll maintain the courage to own up to it: "Rusty, you're a bigot who doesn't have the courage to take responsibility for your prejudice and ignorance."

NO that was not a gorilla that was shot, it was a chimpanzee. As for the sickening, stupid and immature racist comment, it seems to be par for the course these days. It's hard out there for a racist when we have one of the most intelligent, talented, cultivated and compassionate Presidents who ever lived, and he's Black, and ditto for the First Lady! Get over it, folks...the times they have changed, a lot!

She does look an awful lot like a gorilla. Come on, admit it. You noticed it too.

I don't know about her looking like a gorilla, but I saw YOUR picture and the phrase "syphillitic retarded monkey" comes to mind.
